KM CERAMICS STUDENTS ARE PERFECTING THEIR CRAFT!!! Mrs. Prokop provided tphotos of students throwing pottery on the potters wheels and glazing and hand building pieces! We frequently have projects available for "adoption" outside of the ceramics studio, so help yourself to this wonderful student work! AMAZING ARTWORK AT KM!!! Mrs. Yeager shared some wonderful photos of recent student work at KMHS. It is always rewarding to see students expressing themselves creatively through different techniques, styles, and media.

KM GIRLS AND BOYS SKI TEAMS HEADED TO STATE!!! Both teams qualified for state again this year and will head to Mt. LaCrosse this weekend for the State Championship, which will be held Sunday and Monday. The event will be live streamed at explorelacrosse.com/wialpinechamps. Congrats to the following athletes who will be competing: Monica Wawrzyn (3rd place at sectionals, 1st team all conference), Allison Belt (all conference honorable mention), Gemma Rechcygl, Addie Fennig, Sophie Johnson (all conference honorable mention), Zuma Effland, Elizabeth Spence, Owen Fennig (all conference honorable mention), Theo Johnson, Wesley Whiteside, Finn Thompson, Auggie Spence, Jack Armstrong and Will Janakoski!!

CHRIS YOUNG IS NEW BOYS GOLF COACH!!! Chris, a PGA Professional, is the General Manager at Fairways of Woodside. He played golf throughout high school, which inspired a love for the game that has driven his career. Chris is excited to bring that experience and enthusiasm to the KM boys team. He particularly enjoys mentoring golfers to develop their technique and share in the daily improvement that comes from those efforts. Chris and his family recently moved to Dousman and look forward to being part of the KM Community. "We are beyond delighted to hire Chris Young as our next head boys golf coach," said AD Ryan Tomczyk. "We are lucky to have found a quality candidate with an extensive background in the sport of golf." Tomczyk added that "what really stood out when meeting Coach Young was his optimism and vision for the program. We are excited for the future of KM golf, and believe Coach Young is an individual that our student-athletes will gravitate toward for positive instruction!"

Roman Thompson, Kettle Moraine Thompson and the Kettle Moraine boys basketball team continued its perfect season this past week, winning three more games to improve to 19-0 on the year. The Lasers are quite clearly on a mission and Thompson is locked in here in February. In a 66-50 win over Muskego, the NCAA Division III UW-Eau Claire commit had just nine points. From there, he owned the week. Thompson had his first 30-point game in a 74-54 win over Catholic Memorial, finishing with a career high 32 in the victory. The 6-5 senior wing then showed out in a 73-62 win over Nicolet playing in the Deer District Prep Showcase at the Fiserv Forum. Two days after setting a career high in points scored, Thompson topped that by going for 34 in the win over the ranked Knights. Great work Roman!

KM BOYS BASKETBALL REMAINS UNDEFEATED AFTER PREP SHOWCASE APPEARANCE!!! The boys won a hard-fought victory against Nicolet, 72-62, on Friday night at Fiserv Forum. It was a great opportunity for them to play in a large venue and they definitely showed up. Roman Thompson was awarded player of the game with his third stellar performance of the week.

Not only did Sadie earn a Gold Key in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, but her piece, Mr. Fluff Butt, has also been nominated for the National Scholastic American Visions Award—placing her in the top 1% of submissions nationwide! From Sadie’s artist statement: "I made this giant textured monster because I was in an art museum and was a little irritated that I couldn't physically touch and interact with any of the art. I wanted this to be a piece that promoted audience interaction with art. I want people to feel all the textures and fabrics and hopefully appreciate it with more than one sense. There is a 'Please Touch Me!' sign that goes with this piece, which ironically, the Museum chose not to include with the displayed piece." Each year, Wisconsin Regional judges select just five Gold Key winners for the prestigious American Visions Award. Out of approximately 2,500 submissions, Sadie’s work is one of them.
