SCHOOL BOARD SPECIAL SESSION MOVED TO JUNE 11TH!!! The special session school board meeting on June 3rd was moved to June 11th on 5/20. The agenda will be posted June 6th through our website under School Board + Meetings/Agendas, or via Board Docs at https://go.boarddocs.com/wi/kmsd/Board.nsf/Public.

KM'S FISCAL PLANNING PAGE!!! The Kettle Moraine School District is committed to fiscal responsibility and transparency. Investing in empty seats prevents us from providing the choice and opportunity that defines KM. Our resident student population has declined by nearly 25% in a model that funds schools primarily on a per-pupil basis. While we do not currently have a budget deficit (2024-25 fiscal year), we project growing deficits that will reach $7-8 million by 2031-32. These deficits could be dramatically reduced through right-sizing staffing and facilities to align with declining student populations. This has led us to a planning process that will reduce our district footprint to prioritize small class sizes and student outcomes while being responsible to our taxpayers. It is important to engage our community. We encourage you to learn more and add questions at kmsd.edu/fiscal-planning or attend our final listening session on May 17th from 9-11am at the KMHS Library. Video of our previous listening sessions are also available on the fiscal planning page.

KM Music Parents Association would like to express our sincere appreciation to all those who attended music events this year and donated generously to support our outstanding KM music programs. We awarded over $8000 in grants to music teachers. Those grants included new choral music, collapsible music stands and transportation to music festivals where our students performed -- just to name a few. We hope you were able to enjoy the new Prism Arts Center and how the transformation elevates our student performances. You can donate to the Fine Arts Fund to support this incredible space at https://kmsd.edu/fa. Congratulations to all students on the amazing year of music at KM and especially to our graduating seniors! And remember to save the date for our 2025 Homecoming Chili/Mac N Cheese Dinner fundraiser on Friday Sept 26th.

AVIATION SIMULATOR DONATED TO KMHS!!! KMHS Aviation Simulator takes flight! We are one of several schools who have received a cutting edge flight simulator aimed at expanding student interest in aviation as a career path. We are very excited to team with Students In Aviation (SIA) and Joe Canepa to give students hands-on experience piloting, explore aviation as a career and deepen STEM understanding. The simulator includes real-world flight scenarios from Wisconsin airports, giving students the chance to experience what it's like to take off and land close to home. We have had the simulator for just a few short weeks, but it is already a welcome addition to our library space for interested students to test their wings! SIA is based at the Baraboo-Dells Airport and was founded in 2016. They are a non-profit organization supporting students, school districts, and companies by creating the conditions for successful training and career development in aviation. Check out more info: https://studentsinaviation.org/
If interested in considering ways to dig deeper into how the simulator can enhance your future aviation goals or classroom study contact Mrs. Wieczorek or Mrs. Gill in the library!
