NEW ELEMENTARY BOUNDARIES AND EXPLORE MOVES TO DOUSMAN FOR 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR!!! JOIN US AUGUST 20TH FOR A COMMUNITY LISTENING SESSION!! The Kettle Moraine School District is committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our students in a manner that is fiscally responsible. Declining student populations required a reevaluation of our operational efficiency to ensure that resources support educational outcomes rather than scaling our district for pre-existing student populations. We have entered the planning phase of our restructure, with the board voting unanimously to move KM Explore to Dousman Elementary and provide busing to make this learning environment available to all families. The board also approved new elementary boundaries. The District is working with Dousman Transport to keep transportation at or below current maximum transit times as well as exploring opportunities to create efficiencies for families. As part of our planning and restructuring process, we have conducted four Staff Connections Listening Sessions to allow staff members to contribute their ideas and share any concerns. We will be holding a Community Listening Session on August 20th from 6-7pm at Wales Elementary. Please join us to discuss KM's future planning. Visit kmsd.edu/restructure for more information!

NEW BOUNDARIES APPROVED FOR 2026-27 SCHOOL YEAR!!! The Kettle Moraine School District is committed to providing the best possible learning environment for our students in a manner that is fiscally responsible. Declining student populations required a reevaluation of our operational efficiency to ensure that resources support educational outcomes rather than scaling our district for pre-existing student populations. After a lengthy process of comparing school sizes, classroom capacity, open enrollment, per pupil costs, student concentrations, and transportation, the board voted to close Magee Elementary. Please visit kmsd.edu/fiscal-planning for documentation of this process. We have now entered the planning phase of our restructure, with the board voting unanimously to move KM Explore to Dousman Elementary and provide busing to make this learning environment available to all families. The board also approved new elementary boundaries. The District is working with Dousman Transport to keep transportation at or below current maximum transit times as well as exploring opportunities to create efficiencies for families. As part of this planning process, we have conducted three Teacher Listening Sessions, with a fourth taking place on August 14th. We will also be holding Community Listening Sessions on August 14th from 6-7pm at the KMHS Library and a second on August 20th from 6-7pm at Wales Elementary. For more information on KM's restructuring efforts, please visit kmsd.edu/restructure.

WASBO 2025 CLEANING CHALLENGE WINNERS!!! Clean & healthy buildings are a priority at KM, and staff from our district won a Safety Room Challenge at a Custodial & Maintenance Conference, hosted by Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) this summer. WASBO hosted four Custodial Conferences this summer. At the Elkhorn Conference on July 30, staff from Kettle Moraine School District won the Team Challenge. Team members included: Rosalba Mora, Ben Zerrien, and Maria Deaton. The Cleaning Room Challenge — sponsored by GSF USA — challenged team members and individuals to plan for a nightly, everyday cleaning of a school room while considering anything that might be broken. The cleaning concerns ranged from cleaner bottles with no label to electrical coils not being intact. The score was based on the number of accurate answers called out in two minutes.

KM HONORED FOR 29 YEARS OF EXCELLENCE IN FINANCIAL REPORTING!!! For over 50 years, the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) has honored school districts for high-quality Annual Comprehensive Financial Reports (ACFR). Transparency and quality financial information are critical in today’s educational environment and the Kettle Moraine School District takes this responsibility very seriously. Preparation of the ACFR report is led by KMSD Finance Manager Jeremy Struss and supported by members of the business office and district leadership team. Kettle Moraine has received this annual award 29 consecutive times and is currently the only Wisconsin School District to earn this honor. Approximately 4% of school districts nationally earn this designation annually. Kettle Moraine prepares the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report to: Show our community that we are committed to transparent stewardship of public funds. Improve our financial reporting with review comments from school finance professionals and certified public accountants from across the country. Be considered by credit-rating agencies to help maintain the district's ratings with Standard and Poors and Moody's which help the district secure more favorable financing for district initiatives.
