HOCKEY FIGHTS CANCER GAME!!! KM Global student, Elizabeth Kolp, has created a Hockey Fights Cancer event as her Capstone project. The event will be held on January 27th at 6pm at Naga-Waukee Ice Arena, in conjunction with a KMMO hockey game, and will raise money for the American Cancer Society https://raiseyourway.donordrive.com/kmmo.
PARENTS NIGHT OUT!!! Parents' Night Out is a night of fun for kids ages 5-10 to participate in animal-themed games and crafts, to have the opportunity to meet new people and make new friends, with proceeds being donated to Wildlife Warriors to support wildlife conservation. Parents, if you are trying to find two hours of time to spend quality time with each other for Valentine's Day, this could be it!

KM PERFORM FILMS SELECTED FOR WPL FILM FESTIVAL!!! We're excited to announce that two films from our Film Concentration team have been selected for the Watertown Public Library WPL Film Festival on Monday, March 9. "The Web" and "Too Many Anikas" will be shown on the big screen, along with a number of other student films from throughout the region, at The Towne Cinema in Watertown. KMMS COMPETES AT REGIONAL MATH MEET!!! KM sent two high‑performing math teams to this year’s Regional Math Meet. The 7th/8th Grade Team earned second place in the D1 middle school division, securing a spot at the Mega Math Meet on May 27 at UW–Madison. Congratulations to: Jordan S., Evan G., Aaron S., Hadley B., Jackson M. (alt), Connor S. (alt), Graham W., Willa R., Declan I., Logan S., and Lucia C. (alt). Evan G. also earned 2nd Place in the Individual High Score Category among all D1 middle school competitors. The 5th/6th grade team of Gus H., Maya H., Hudson S., Aaron H., and Nora G. (alt), Jackson H., Aidan H., Connor H., Tyus B., and Elena P. (alt) represented the academic strength of our district and made mental math look easy. This event encourages excitement for mathematics, recognizes exceptional talent, and fosters a positive academic environment for students across the region. GIRLS GOLF ACADEMIC ALL STATE!!! The Golf Coaches Association of Wisconsin is pleased to announce that the following student-athletes from Kettle Moraine have been recognized as 2025 Academic All-State honorees: Lilah Morn, Madeline Ewald, Avery Sallmann, Emily Garvin, Reagan Cloninger, and Grace Kim. Students are submitted by member coaches of the GCAW and must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher; participated in at least 75% of their team's varsity competitions; be in good standing regarding athletic and school codes of conduct; and be either a sophomore, junior, or senior.
KM HIGH SCHOOLS EARN AP PACESETTER AWARD: HS^2, KM Global, Kettle Moraine High School and KM Perform all earned Advanced Placement Pacesetter Awards for the 2024 school year. The award is presented by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin Advanced Placement Advisory Council, recognizing level of AP participation and creating a culture of excellence. HS^2 and Global both had 30% or more of all students participate in at least one AP exam and 70% or more of those students earn scores of 3 or above on the exams. KMHS and Perform had 10% or more of all students participate in at least one AP exam and 60% or more of those students earn scores of 3 or above on the exams. HS ^2 was also one of ONLY TWO schools in the state to earn a Platinum Tier in 2024 AP School Honor Roll awards, while KM Global and Kettle Moraine High School earned Bronze Tier Awards. The AP School Honor Roll recognizes schools whose AP programs are delivering results for students while broadening participation. KM strongly encourages our students to challenge themselves by taking AP courses and currently offers 21 AP courses with more under consideration. SCHOOL BOARD APPRECIATION MONTH!!! Thank you to all of our school board members for caring enough about our community to serve and support our schools.
KMMO SUCCESS!!! The KMMO Varsity Reserve team participated in the Joe Raymond Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Waukesha Wings. The event was held at Naga-Waukee Ice Rink. KMMO won all 3 of its games by a combined score of 16-4, including a 4-1 victory over the Brookfield Stars JV1 team in the championship. Congratulations to the team!
DECA CHARITABLE WORK!!! This month, KM DECA raised $7,000 in cookie sales to provide gifts and necessities for two local families. A special thank you to KM culinary classes for baking, decorating, and packaging the cookies. The DECA Officer Team also took the opportunity to make dinner for the families staying at the Ronald McDonald House in Wauwatosa, an organization that provides housing, meals, and support for families with children seeking medical care nearby. Through these efforts, KM DECA was also able to donate $2,500 to the Ronald McDonald House to support their mission.
KM GIRLS FLAG FOOTBALL REPEAT CHAMPIONS!!! The Kettle Moraine Girls' Flag Football team captured the championship on Sunday, December 21st, with a thrilling 32–28 victory over Milwaukee School of Languages at Muskego High School’s indoor turf. The game was back and forth throughout the first half, but Milwaukee opened the second half with a big score to take control. Down 10 points with just a few minutes remaining, Kettle Moraine responded with resilience, recording two crucial defensive stops and converting on offense to close the gap. With 15 seconds left, quarterback Mia Gray sealed the comeback by throwing the game-winning touchdown to junior Samantha Thompson. Senior captains, Grace Walczak and Brynn Lauters, played key roles throughout the game—Walczak delivered critical pass breakups and flag pulls on defense, and helped set up the game-winning drive with two minutes left, while Lauters contributed multiple clutch runs and catches and added a score of her own. Gray was essential to the offense all game, displaying accuracy through the air and making plays with her legs. Coaches Mr. Hunt and Mr. Ksobiech kept the team motivated and led both sides of the ball to success. The championship caps off an outstanding season, as the team finished 8–1 in the regular season, defeated Greenfield and Muskego Red in the playoffs, and secured their second straight championship title. KM GLOBAL CPR TRAINING!!! Students in the Term 2 Personal Health and Fitness seminar participated in CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training and certification, in partnership with the Kettle Moraine School District and the American Red Cross. This certification is a valuable life skill that provides students with the knowledge and confidence to respond in an emergency. The training consisted of an online component followed by an in-person hands-on skills practice session. The online coursework and hands-on skills practice lead to an official American Red Cross certification.
KM CULINARY STUDENTS ARE SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER!!! The culinary students prepared a Cookie Drive for DECA, baking and decorating over 3,700 cookies for the DECA organization to sell to local families. The proceeds from this initiative were divided to support two families within our district during the holiday season, with additional profits donated to the Ronald McDonald House. Culinary students also contributed to a Friday's Service Project, preparing and delivering homemade lasagna for families currently staying at the Ronald McDonald House; baking homemade bread, cookies, and lasagna for four local firehouses as well as our 911 dispatch center! These students have demonstrated exceptional compassion, teamwork, and dedication to serving our community. Their efforts have made a meaningful difference for families in need and our local first responders.

Outstanding Lead Performance: Josephine Byrne - Dorothy Gale, William Kastner - Scarecrow/Hunk, Joseph Anderson - Cowardly Lion/Zeke, and Johnathan Doome - Tin Man/Hickory. Outstanding Supporting Performance: Emma Hipp - Aunt Em/Glinda, Chip - Toto, and Gabriella Schmitt - Almira Gulch/Wicked Witch of the West. Spirit Awards: Emma Hipp and Isabella Kreblin. Outstanding Overall Design: Scenic Designer - Matthew Dunlap, Lighting Designer - Mykhailo Nahirniak, Costume Designer - Abigail Kean and Lynne Miner, Sound Design - Greg Klas, Outstanding Costume Design - Abigail Kean and Lynne Miner, and Outstanding Sound Design - Greg Klas. Some specific feedback regarding the ensemble: "The ensemble was committed and focused. The young Munchkins were a highlight, demonstrating vocal strength, discipline, and full character engagement." "This ensemble understood exactly what it means to work as a unified group." "Whether on stage or off, their performances formed the backbone of this show. Even the beautiful choral moments in the Overture reinforced how essential the ensemble is within The Wizard of Oz. And of course, no Oz production is complete without an adorable parade of Munchkins. Some ensemble highlights included the entire Munchkin-land sequence (special kudos to all soloists), the wonderfully comedic Crows in “If I Only Had a Brain,” the Trees in “If I Only Had a Heart,” and the high energy in both “The Merry Old Land of Oz” and “The Jitterbug.” Overall, the ensemble was engaging, versatile, and delightful to watch. Excellent work." One of our Jerry Reviewer's summed up the production like this: The Wizard of Oz is not an easy undertaking. The audience arrives with built in expectations, and the show demands an enormous number of fantastical elements to bring the world to life. It is clear that a tremendous amount of brains, heart, and courage went into every aspect of this production. I was consistently impressed by the cast’s energy, precision, and stamina. The Kettle Moraine High School production created a magical and whimsical journey down the yellow brick road. Terrific work and congratulations to all."
VFW PATRIOT'S PEN WINNERS!!! Congratulations to two KMMS students who were selected as the 1st and 2nd place winners of the Oconomowoc VFW's Patriot's Pen essay contest! Coming in 1st place was 6th grader Jack S, and coming in 2nd place was 7th grader Charlie M. The boys wrote essays on the topic, "How are you showing patriotism and support for our country?" This essay contest is available to all KMMS students and will be offered again in the fall of 2026. Great work, Jack and Charlie! Way to represent KMMS as true Lasers!
FREE PRESCHOOL SCREENINGS!!! March 13th from 9:00am-12:00pm at Dousman Elementary, KM will be holding a free preschool screening facilitated by the District's Early Childhood Team. Children participate in a variety of play-based activities to assess communication, gross and fine motor skills, social/ emotional development, and pre-academic skills. AUTHOR VISIT!!! We are thrilled to share an exciting event that took place in our KM elementary libraries this month! Our K-3 grade students had the wonderful opportunity to meet best-selling author Diane Nienas. She shared her children's book series, Living Life with Leo and the adventures of her son, Leo, a boy who uses a wheelchair. Students were encouraged to celebrate differences, embrace challenges, and lead with kindness. Her books can be purchased on Amazon. We also have them available for book checkout in our school libraries. This event was organized by the district library media specialists who work to promote the love of reading to our students. Later in the year, students in grades 4-5 will have their own author visit.
